Crown, Job, etc.
Apr. 11th, 2005 10:12 amThis weekend was rather interesting for me. Not only did I attend Crown in Victorville, with the 50 mph winds turning pavillions into kites (congratulations to Their Royal Highnesses, Deitrich and Adrianna) but I also got fired on Thursday. Well, I appealed the termination, citing evidence that the reason, coming in late, was due to circumstances beyond my control. I was told to call in later on Thursday. I did, and was told to call in on Friday. I did, and was told to come in today, to "talk." With this impending doom cloud hanging o'er my head I went to Crown, which was fun but rather uneventful, aside from having about as many heralds as there were fighters. Huzzah volunteerism!
I went in for this "talk," where my boss admitted that it was a knee-jerk reaction to fire me. He praised my work ethic, and said that he held me to a higher standard than most because I was a Graduate student. He also expressed reservations about my school time vs. work time ratio, which we will still have to resolve, as he is offering me a second chance.
So, I was fired, and now I'm being rehired. And he's asking me about my summer schedule. :)
