Jerry Falwell, dead at 73.

There are those far kinder and more considerate than I who have chosen not to say anything ill of the deceased, either out of discretion, or out of sympathy for his family. You will find no such sympathy or discretion here. Jerry Falwell was an embodiment of all that is wrong with Christianity today. He has consistently used fear and hate to further his agenda, and has encouraged and even praised the actions of those who bombed health clinics and murdered doctors. In short, Jerry Falwell was a terrorist, and I celebrate his death as a step towards cleansing this nation of the fear and hate he propagated.
As for his family, they have enjoyed the posh estates paid for by Falwell's blood money for decades, and therefore recieve no pity from me. My hope for them is that they will realize the error of their fallen patriarch's ways, give the money Falwell hoarded to a proper charity, and live the rest of their lives in relative peace, their hearts free of the hate Falwell espoused.
Edit: Fred Phelps, in an effort to prove he's the worst of the lot, is actually going to protest Falwell's funeral, according to his website, which is too foul for me to provide a link. I'm not surprised, but now I guess I do have a reason to feel sorry for Falwell's family; no one, but no one, deserves the treatment Phelps gives, not even Falwell.
