Lately, it seems like more and more SCA purists have been pushing for an exclusively European worldview of the Society. Disparaging remarks against Eastern personae have come to my ear more frequently, and I seriously wonder whether a proposal will someday reach the Board of Directors demanding a ban on all things that aren't European, or don't fall within the thousand years prior to Elizabeth I's death. While I don't wish to point fingers, to my perspective those who complain are almost entirely late-period participants. With that in mind, please suffer what may seem to some as hyperbole, in poetic filk form:

They came first for the Musketeers,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Musketeer.

Then they came for the Ancient Greeks and Romans,
and I didn't speak up because I was neither Ancient Greek nor Roman.

Then they came for the Nipponese, Persians and Arabs,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't an Easterner.

Then they came for the Norsemen,
and I didn't speak up because I was an Irishman.

Then they came for me,
and by that time no one was left to speak up.
