It probably is a moot situation as you are moving out soon, but if you were planning on staying, I would ask the landlord to send a letter to all of his/her tenants specifying the laundry room's hours and spelling out in no uncertain terms that the door will be locked at 8 pm. I would also ask the landlord to post a large sign on said door reminding the tenants of the laundry room's hours and when the door gets locked and unlocked. You might suggest to the landlord to say in said letter and on said sign that any defacing or destruction or vandalism of said laundry area will be cause for immediate eviction proceedings.
