It's time, once again, for an overabundance of updates! (This time, however, it's because everything happened within a two-day stretch, not because I've been neglecting LiveJournal).

On Thursday, I recieved a CFP (Call for Papers for those of you not in the know) from a Pop Culture Conference in Boston. They have a specific track dedicated to Arthurian Literature. On a whim (and with plenty of time at work) I wrote up an abstract for a paper on the Arthurian Love Triangle in film, based on my undergrad thesis.

On Friday, I completed my move out of Long Beach. Thanks be to Camin and Carrie, without whom I could never have done it. So, really sore from the move, I came home to Monrovia and prepared to go to Crown.

On Saturday, I drove out to the middle of nowhere (aka Idyllwild) for Caid's Crown Tournament. I stepped down as Bellows, Caid's Chief Field Herald, in a very cool ceremony. Because I put my replacement through a trial by fire that day, and she came through with flying colors, I feel confident she can handle the job. The winner of Crown Tourney, and our new al-Caid, was Duke Edric Aaron Hartwood, fighting for the honor of the Honourable Lady Faizeh al-Zarqua(aka [livejournal.com profile] jillaw), our new Lady Caid. Congratulations to Their Royal Highnesses, and Her Royal Majesty [livejournal.com profile] kottr for what must surely have been an epic labor (Edric is approximately 9 feet tall).

On Saturday night/Sunday morning, I slept for 12 hours. It was glorious.

Today (Sunday), I recieved an email back from the Pop Culture Conference coordinators. They loved my abstract, and have accepted me as a presenter. Now I need to find the funding to go, either through Student Life and Development, the College of Liberal Arts, or both.

Edit: Abby and Camin suggested that I set up a PayPal account for donations. Not one to argue, I did. If you wish to donate to my "I need to get to Boston in early April and still pay the bills" fund, please click on the link here:

Edit 2: So I performed a major faux pas, and did not post a link to the conference itself. The fix:

Post a donation button via paypal on your user page or on your website, along with the abstract.....

I'd kick a couple bucks your way.

Also see if some kind SCA folks would give you some crash space n Boston.

Apparently, back east the crash space concept is far more prevalent than it is here, where we just go home at the end of the day.... or pack 10 people into one hotel room.

You know, that's so crazy it just might work.

Stranger things have worked.

I'll even post a link on my LJ too. Both 'em.

I live in Boston now, and have a couch. If you're allergic to cats, I also know other local scadians who might be willing to put you up.

I think I love you now.

Wait...

Yes. I love you now.

Only *now*??? I see how it is...

But at any rate, yes, keep me aprised of your plans. Do you know the venue for the convention?
(Oh, and don't budget in renting a car. Unless for some reason the convention is way out in the boonies, you won't need it. My mom is coming to visit at Thanksgiving and was all "I'll rent a car" and I was all "No you won't. Driving in Boston makes *ME* crazy. You will pitch a fit." It's not the drivers (althought they are insane) so much as the bovine method of urban planning—"Hey, the cows walk on it, might as well pave it!")

The venue is the Boston Marriot at Copley Place. In the next few minutes I'm going to do another edit to the post, giving the link to the conference itself.

I'm considering renting a car and driving to New Jersey to visit a friend, so budgeting a rental might still be a feasable option. I'll just not plan on driving through the city. Thanks for the heads-up!

And I've liked you quite a bit before. But now, when you've demonstrated the type of generosity that makes me really appreciate the time I spend in the SCA, yes. I love you now. :)
