Artist/Google Image Challenge
Sep. 24th, 2006 10:07 pmHey all you artists! Hey all you Google Image searchers! I've got a challenge for you!
I need a line drawing of a bear head in profile for a heraldry submission I'm doing. I'm looking for the most natural bear head I can find, that still has the requirements for the submission.
Requirements:
- The bear's head MUST be in profile. No 3/4 turn, no face-on. It has to be completely in profile, 90 degrees from face-on.
- The bear MUST have "dangly bits" coming from the neck. The term in heraldry is "erased" and looks like someone grabbed the bear by the neck and pulled it from its body (i.e. there's no straight line cut where the body disappears.
- The drawing MUST be a line drawing, like one would find in a coloring book.
Here's an example of what I'm looking for, though I'd like something a bit fiercer/more natural/not quite so dim-looking:

Doesn't he look sad and idiotic? Help me out, people!
Other crappy examples:
http://www.heraldicclipart.com/catalog/bear-head-erased.bmp
http://www.badger.cx/heraldry/roll/arms/TorricinnBjorn.gif (this is a bit less stupid-looking, but still not what I'm looking for)
Oh, and no muzzles please: http://www.heraldicclipart.com/catalog/bear%20head%20erased%20and%20muzzled.GIF I'm not that kinky.
So pull out your sketch pads and your browser prompts. Prize for the best art recieved will be a new linen tunic sewn by mine own hand!
Edit: This or this is what I'm looking for. Of course, both are photos and not line drawings, and the first one (my new OMG favorite) isn't completely in profile, but now you artists have got an idea of what I want.

Date: 2006-09-25 03:01 pm (UTC)I must respectfully disagree about the "crappiness" of the examples. They are decent examples of historical style. Possibly not actual Medieval style, mind you. I do like Torricin Bjorn's piccie though.
I'm thinking that

So please excuse the fact that it sucks.
Yeah. Pretty out of focus, but you get the general idea.
Also, I wasn't sure if you wanted a really long tongue like that, but I can get rid of it and work something else in if it's the only part you truly hate.
