A picture is worth a thousand words

As a follow-up from yesterday's post, here is a photo of the flag that was rescued.

I turned it over today to a local Scout leader, who will be retiring it with his boys.

Wow. That's sad neglect. Kind of the diametric opposite of all the flag stickers on cars, yesno? Well at least it will serve as a hands-on demo for the boys to retire it with the proper protocol.

Well done! That flag probably should have been retired (and replaced) several years before you acquired it.

What was really awful was the debate about whether or not to hang it on the wall to photograph it.

Cormac rightly wondered if he should. I'm glad he decided to. This is no way to treat a symbol that represents the states and the blood and lives lost...

Time and past time for that to have been honorably retired.

Good for you

Good plan. I'm glad someone finally retired a flag someone should have retired some time ago.

did you get that at a business? I wonder what else they've been neglecting to do.

Yes, I got this at a restaurant. A Leo's Burgers-style fast-but-not-really-fast food joint whose building (and probably flag) was formerly owned by McDonald's.
