So...
Jen's decided to go to Chico rather than Long Beach, which means that our plans to move into an apartment together this Spring (or maybe fall) aren't going to happen.
Summer's unable to come up with rent for the loft apartment, so that idea is out.
All of my friends in the area are either out of the dorms and living in apartments with roommates, happily staying in the dorms, or financially unable to rent half an apartment, even for $425 a month including utilities.
I'm never going to be able to get out of the dorms.

Don't be silly, of course you will get out of the dorms, they'll throw you out sometime after your second post-doc. [grin, duck, run]

Got a point there -- after all, aren't most places in a housing crunch? Gotta make room for those underclassmen who aren't certain they want to come... can't waste it on someone they know has been permanently sucked into their evil web of academia.
