Impeachment, and sewing

Headline, if the media would ever cover this: "House GOP blocks Democrats' attempt to stop impeachment bill."

Dennis Kucinich proposed H.R. 333 today on the floor of the House of Representatives. The Democratic leadership, who have expressed their intent to block any impeachment efforts due to...well, that part still doesn't make sense...moved to table the motion (which would effectively kill it). During the vote, House Republicans started voting against tabling it. Their train of thought was to bring this to a House vote, to make the Democratic Party look stupid. Enough of them voted against it that it was saved from tabling. At that point, it was sent to committee, where it will probably die a quiet death. But still, isn't it a great head-go-splodey headline?

In other news, I finished my messenger bag, or "man bag" on Sunday. It's made out of cream and golden brown denim, and when the flap is closed is a display of my heraldry. I'll have pictures up soon.

Not surprising. The house GOP did this with the second version of the child healthcare bill. The Democrats were starting to make bipartian inroads into making one that would either be signed into law or have enough support to override a veto. GOP Leadership blocked every change though, insuring that the bill that will be sent is identical to the one that was vetoed - which they can then turn around and use as proof of a "failed Democrat congress"

No, no. You misunderstand.

They voted NOT to table it. The only blocking came from the Democratic leadership, and the blocks FAILED.

No, I understood. This way the bill goes forward, and the GOP leadership can use it to decry the obstructionist activities of the Democratic leadership - as well as pious comments about "trying to remove the president during a time of war"

Leave it to my favorite hippie-elf Presidential candidate to send Congress spiraling into utter CHAOS! :D

Hippie-elf UFO-spotting "pockets" Presidential candidate. He'll never win, being guano crazy and all, but he's a good man, and his intentions are genuine. You don't see that alot lately.

You forgot ".....with hot tounge-pierced redheaded English wife" *chuckle*

Indeed. Perhaps he found a leprechaun and got his wishes (good wishes!), but didn't read the fine print that he would become a leprechaun in turn.

Damn straight. If I thought he had a chance in hell, I'd vote for him just so we could have a hot British first lady.

Because I'm politically responsible like that.
