The Media Board
Dec. 8th, 2004 04:49 pmAbout 30 minutes ago I was appointed by the Associated Students Senate to an open position on the Student Media Board. This board oversees the functions of the Union Newspaper and KBeach Radio, as well as other ASI-sponsored media on campus. This is an interesting position for me to have, as I've been a writer and copy-editor for the Union, and a co-host for a show on KBeach. During my years of involvement, I have made many acquaintances in each of the medium I will be overseeing.
At the Senate meeting, there was a surprising lack of representatives from the newspaper and radio stations, which struck me as odd since it was on the agenda that the Senate would be appointing people to fill the vacancies on the board that was, in essence, their boss. Ah well.
I look forward to helping the student media, and the Union in particular, achieve its full potential as a voice of the students of CSULB, and not just the voice influential members of the Union staff.
(P.S. If you're completely lost, you probably don't know me from college. If this is the case, take a deep breath, relax and go with it. I'll explain it to you if you ask, but it's a long story, and my typin' fingers are getting tired.)
(P.P.S. Edited for clarity)
