Cock-A-Doodle-Doo!
Aug. 15th, 2008 09:36 pmToday I went to get pre-approved for a home loan (I'm through with renting; I want a place of my own). Now, I knew I had decent credit, because I'd not made any terrible credit mistakes, I've paid my student loans on time, and so forth. But while I'd checked my credit report, it didn't include my credit rating. I saw it for the first time today.
I'm 26 years old, I've never owned a house or a vehicle, and yet I have a credit rating of over 800.
So don't mind me; I'm just crowing.

Date: 2008-08-16 02:52 pm (UTC)Now you just have to keep it that way, and survive layoffs, catastrophic medical expenses (hint: don't have a heart attack between jobs - of course NOW there is COBRA which didn't always exist), unexpected repair bills, etc.
I had that kind of credit at your age - now that I'm twice that, it's a different matter.
OTOH, going ahead and getting a home now is a very good thing, I wish I had.

Date: 2008-08-18 01:52 am (UTC)But before our move, our credit scores were very close to that ... but a move, a blown out engine, and a company that sucks ... it's not so good anymore. But we have a house, for less than we were renting in CA, so it's all good.
